Bangkok University, through the Dr.Supong Limtanakool Fund, organized the “BU donates eyeglasses” project – an eyesight testing and glasses fitting program for Thammasat Hospital staff and the general public. The event was held on January 16-17, 2025, with many staff members and citizens participating. The service included computerized eye examinations, along with free frame selection and glasses, with no costs whatsoever.
Asst. Prof.Chanunshee Pangkhanont, Assistant to the President for Administrative and Educational Services and Corporate Communications at Bangkok University, represented the university in distributing glasses to staff and the public. Speaking about the project, she said, “The Clear Blue Glasses from BU’s Heart project, funded by the Dr.Supong Limtanakool Fund, has been running continuously for over 10 years, serving people in many areas of Pathum Thani and neighboring provinces. This is the first time the project has provided services at Thammasat Hospital, serving both hospital patients and staff. Bangkok University considers itself a neighbor of Thammasat Hospital, and we have always maintained a mutually supportive relationship. This project has attracted many elderly participants.”
Assistant Professor Dr. Arthit Boonyarangkul, Deputy Director of Healthcare Services at Thammasat University Hospital, represented the hospital in receiving and speaking about this project: “Currently, Thailand has entered an aging society with an increasing number of elderly people. The elderly experience deterioration of various organs in their body, especially the eyes, which undergo age-related changes and are more prone to abnormalities. Therefore, wearing glasses for eye protection is extremely important for the elderly. This is a great opportunity for the elderly to receive free glasses through the BU donates eyeglasses project. This event was organized at Thammasat University Hospital, providing glasses to hospital personnel and general public aged over 50 years to receive quality glasses for protecting their important eyesight. This initiative has received overwhelming interest from participants. On this occasion, Thammasat University Hospital would like to thank Bangkok University for organizing such a wonderful project, and we hope to collaborate on more beneficial projects like this in the future.”

Additionally, Bangkok University donated 600 medication bags to replace plastic bags for patients taking medicine home. These cloth bags feature designs created by Bangkok University students, who painted them as part of the “Be The Change: Create a Bag of Joy” project at Thammasat University Hospital, combining creativity with social benefit.
