Learning Diverse Cultures Through Real Experiences “Intercultural Surprise”
The first activity welcomed Mr. Lam Kien Ann, Executive Director from The Boys’ Brigade In Singapore, who has experience in cultural diversity work, especially collaborating with various communities to promote understanding of cross-cultural learning through youth development projects and activities that promote global citizenship and social harmony. Students learned from real experiences while listening to impressive stories about cultural differences and cross-cultural adaptation that helped open new perspectives for students to understand the importance of learning different cultures, which is an essential skill for working and living in today’s society.
Enhancing Professional Presentation Skills with “Pitch Perfect”
The activities concluded with learning language techniques from Dr. Rittu Gambhir, a researcher, entrepreneur, and expert in English language teaching on the topic “Pitch Perfect: Mastering Presentation Skills.” Students learned about interesting presentation structures, rhetorical strategies, and professional English usage in presentations, which are important skills they can carry with them for future studies and work.
All these activities reflect the commitment of the Self Access Language Learning Center in developing students’ English language skills holistically, including cross-cultural communication, application in the technological era, and professional presentation.
