BU × Singapore Polytechnic Launches LeX 2026 Community Engagement Program — Using Design Thinking to Solve Real Problems
Students and faculty from both institutions conduct fieldwork in Pathum Thani Province to explore challenges and co-create sustainable community innovations.
Following the success of the Learning Express Programme (LeX) 2025 last year, Bangkok University and Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore, have organized a continuation program under the name Learning Express Programme (LeX) 2026, while expanding its scope to actual community fieldwork in Pathum Thani Province. The program aims to apply Design Thinking processes to concretely address real challenges faced by local communities. One community site has been selected for activities: the Sam Khok Floating Market Community (Talat Ing Nam Sam Khok), Sam Khok Sub-district, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province.
Students and faculty members from both institutions conducted field visits to explore and study the way of life of local residents, listen to the voices of community members, and utilize the gathered information to design innovative solutions that directly address the identified challenges.
LeX 2026 goes beyond academic exchange — it creates real-world experiences where students observe, engage, and collaborate with communities to solve genuine problems. The program develops 21st-century skills through cross-cultural and cross-institutional teamwork, focusing on critical thinking, communication, and collaborative problem-solving in real environments.

2) Students participating in the program will have the opportunity to practice design thinking skills, communication skills, social skills, and teamwork.
3) Students and faculty members will have the opportunity to exchange cultures with students and faculty from Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore.
4) The strengthening of collaboration between Bangkok University and Singapore Polytechnic to build an international cooperative network aligned with AUN-QA standards, working toward joint educational and innovation development in the future.
This collaboration between the two institutions reflects a shared commitment to advancing education that responds to real social challenges, and to nurturing students with the skills needed for a working world where crossing boundaries of thought and culture has never been more essential.
