IT Empowering Day: in the Era of AI, Student Innovation Showcase Bridges Academia and Industry, Preparing Graduates for the AI Era
School of Information Technology and Innovation hosts five integrated activities to build AI skills connected to industry, leading to real internship and employment opportunities
As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly reshapes the labor market, School of Information Technology and Innovation held the “IT Empowering Day: in the Era of AI” event, an important platform bringing together academic and professional activities under one roof. The event aimed to strengthen AI skills in line with industry needs, giving over 500 students from all year levels and programs within the faculty the opportunity to showcase their potential and build networks with leading IT companies, paving the way for concrete internships, cooperative education placements, and employment.
The event featured five main activities:
1. Special Talk: “AI Frontier & Career Path: Navigating the Future in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” — bringing together experts from the digital industry to share insights on AI technology trends, future-ready skills, and career paths in the tech sector, through real business case studies and guidance on transitioning from the classroom to the workplace. A special highlight segment, “Igniting the Spark: From Campus to Microsoft Global Frontier,” featured alumni including six graduates selected as Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors, as well as a Gold Level alumnus who advanced to the position of Senior Cloud Architect at Microsoft within just over a year of graduation.
2. Hands-on Workshop: “AI in Action: From Learning to Building” — beginning with an AI Workshop where students practiced using AI tools to work more efficiently, such as for coding assistance and code analysis, followed by an AI Mini Hackathon in which students competed in small groups to develop real-world solutions using AI technology, with evaluation and awards presented by a judging panel.
3. Senior Project Showcase — displaying completed projects by fourth-year students spanning AI, web applications, and mobile applications. Attendees were invited to vote on the projects, while a panel of industry experts judged and selected outstanding works.
4. Industry-driven Innovation Project Showcase — a new initiative for third-year students who received real-world challenges from companies to develop into prototypes, receiving feedback and evaluation from industry representatives through a Real Industry Evaluation format, creating an ongoing Industry Feedback Loop to continuously improve both student development and the curriculum.
5. Mini Job Fair: Opportunities with Leading IT Companies — providing a space for leading IT companies to meet directly with students, sharing information on job openings and required skills, along with guidance on resume preparation and job application readiness.
This initiative reinforces Bangkok University’s “Practical University” concept, which aims to produce graduates ready for real-world work in the age of artificial intelligence, while building concrete collaboration with industry and raising the faculty’s profile among students, the public, and leading companies in the information technology industry.
