4 AIE Students from Bangkok University Win Medals at Super AI Engineer Season 6, a National AI Competition
A student from the Faculty of Engineering built on his cooperative education experience to join the Super AI Engineer Season 6 program and win a medal, reflecting the collaboration between the university, the industrial sector, and the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand
Congratulations to four students from the School of Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering and Data Science (AIE) program — Mr. Krasirit Pairotamonchai, Miss Supharat Sukpong, Mr. Satapol Boonjong and Miss Manchuphon Thiptanesuan — who won the bronze medal in the Super AI Engineer Season 6 project, a national platform for developing artificial intelligence skills, organized by the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT) together with a network of partners from both the public and industry sectors.
This achievement was the result of a continuous, multi-level process of skill development and selection, building on experience from coursework and cooperative education before moving on to tackle real-world problems in the industry.
The four students’ journey began with a cooperative education program run jointly by the AIE curriculum and Mango Consultant Co., Ltd., before advancing into Super AI Engineer Season 6, which offers participants both theoretical learning and hands-on practice in solving real industry problems.
The opportunity has been closely guided by the program’s leadership team, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nongnuch Ketui, Vice President of the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand and Head of the Super AI Engineer Season 6 program, together with A.Sirikorn Prathum, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, who visited the students in person to provide guidance and monitor their progress at Mango Consultant Co., Ltd.
This site visit created a space for students, program leadership, and the host company to exchange views, discuss work progress, and jointly develop approaches to building AI talent equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and capability to genuinely meet industry needs.
From Tens of Thousands of Applicants to an Intensive Selection Process
One of the participating students described the Super AI Engineer journey: “This program combines both training and competition to develop AI skills, welcoming participants across a wide age range — roughly 18 to 50 years old — and is not limited to university students. Super AI Engineer Season 6 is divided into three levels. Level 1 is open to the general public, and this year attracted more than 10,000 applicants, before candidates move on to Level 2 selection — an onsite camp requiring participants to pass training scores, a theoretical exam, a practical exam, a hackathon, and an interview.”
Those who pass the selection to enter Level 2 number around 150 people, divided into 6 houses. Participants can rank their preferred houses before going through a selection process conducted by the house’s supervising instructors. Most activities are carried out together within each house, alongside competitions between all 6 houses, with real industry challenges forming part of the learning each week. “Those who advance to this level must also intensively develop their AI skills and compete in a Hackathon based on real-world problems, which requires knowledge of both AI and Data, analytical thinking, solution development, teamwork, and problem-solving under real-world constraints.”
Level 3: From Camp to Real Work Experience
After completing camp activities, participants who attend at least 80% of sessions with no participation issues advance to Level 3, an internship phase. The Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand opens its website for external companies to post internship openings, allowing participants to apply to companies of interest just as in a standard internship, with the Association coordinating and overseeing the process throughout.
For students who already have a host organization — such as the AIE students already interning at Mango Consultant Co., Ltd. — the Association can coordinate directly with that organization to support the internship within the program, allowing the cooperative education experience and the AI skills development program to connect seamlessly.
During the internship period, the Association periodically visits and monitors host organizations, and participants present their work or projects to the program’s leadership team at the end of the internship.
Connecting University and Industry to Build AI Talent from Real-World Experience
This site visit reflects the ongoing collaboration between Bangkok University, industry, and the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand in jointly developing AI talent ready for the real world of work.
From their starting point on campus, through cooperative education, participation in a national-level camp and competition, and internships with host organizations, AIE students have learned through real problems and real environments — applying their AI knowledge to create value for the business sector.
