Fashion Design Program, School of Fine and Applied Arts continuously organizes academic service projects for communities, promoting practical learning in collaboration with government, private sector, and local community partners to develop creative industries and upgrade local products. In academic year 2024, three main projects were implemented as follows:
1. Creative Young Designer Season 5 Project – A product development project using Khao Ma fabric in collaboration with Ban Khao Tao Handicraft Weaving Center and Pracharath Shop in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, supported by EISA and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited. Students conducted field surveys and community discussions to design and develop new product prototypes that meet tourist needs, integrating fashion knowledge, marketing, and branding with local wisdom. This included Lookbook photography for students to practice working with professional teams, creating promotional materials for handwoven Khao Ma fabric products designed by students into a Lookbook for the community.

2. SX2024 Exhibition Project – The fifth consecutive year under support from EISA and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, promoting the application of Khao Ma fabric in modern fashion design through Fashion Show & Talk Show format under SUSTAINABILITY EXPO 2024 (SX2024). This project represents collaboration between Fashion Design Program, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Event Production and Exhibition and Conference Management Program, Faculty of Communication Arts, providing a platform for students to showcase creative design potential while connecting with sustainability goals. Students practiced real work with professional teams from preparation stages across departments including Choreography/Organization/Graphic Motion/Makeup/Hair Styling and Props design, working with other participating universities.

3. Creative Venture Lab: BU X SARAPAD THAI ONE BANGKOK Project – An entrepreneurship skill incubation project in the fashion industry through real business challenges in collaboration between Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Communication Arts, and partners including Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, EISA, Sarapad Thai Shop, ONE BANGKOK, and Khao Ma fabric producer groups in Pathum Thani Province. This provided opportunities for students to learn business planning processes, brand building, product design, and marketing communication activities to enhance real experience and cultivate awareness in developing community economy creatively and sustainably.

These three academic service projects reflect Bangkok University’s role in promoting active learning, creating value for communities, and developing new generation youth ready to compete in creative industries at national and international levels.
