Students explore sustainability concepts and aviation industry culture through Problem-Based Learning with real-world challenges

Airline Business Management program organized a co-curricular activity titled “Towards a Culturally Rooted and Sustainable Airline Future: Thai AirAsia” under the course ABM 250 Trends and Issues in Hospitality and Aviation Industries. The program was honored to welcome K.Jarupha Khanyanatham, Sustainability Manager, Sustainability Division, Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd., who shared expertise on “An Airline for All Cultures and a Sustainable Future.” The session aimed to broaden students’ perspectives on sustainability concepts, cultural tourism, and the role of airlines in society and the environment, held at The Banquet Room, 5th Floor, Building A5, Bangkok University.

The activity employed a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach using real-world challenges from Thai AirAsia — including the “AirAsia Carbon Reduction Project” and “Journey D: Sustainable Tourism” — through which students analyzed issues, developed concepts, and presented creative projects connecting culture, community, and sustainability within the aviation industry.

The activity reflects the program’s commitment to developing students who are ready to enter the future aviation industry, equipped with strategic thinking, teamwork, and the capacity to drive sustainable social innovation.
